Joan Pi Anfruns, DMD

Implant and Surgical Dentistry

Dr. Joan Pi-Anfruns was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. He earned his degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain. He completed post-doctoral training in Implant Dentistry from New York University’s Advanced Implant Program, Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. He then joined the UCLA School of Dentistry and completed a Fellowship in Surgical Implant Dentistry. Currently, Dr. Pi-Anfruns shares his time between private practice in Los Angeles, CA and as a part-time Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA with a dual appointment in the sections of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the Academy of Osseointegration and a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology.

 

His areas of expertise include dental implant surgery, hard and soft tissue reconstruction, and dental extractions and he lectures nationally and internationally on these topics. Dr. Pi-Anfruns has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored several book chapters in the field of Implant Dentistry. 


Dr. Pi-Anfruns also finds time to give back to the community. He is an active volunteer of the Thousand Smiles Foundation, a non-profit organization that organizes quarterly trips to Ensenada, Mexico to provide treatment to children suffering from cleft lip and palate. He also collaborates with the UCLA Operation Mend, a non-profit dedicated to providing treatment to our wounded warriors.
