Marina del Rey 50th Boat Parade

Coming Saturday, December 8th, it’s the annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade.  The parade started back in 1963 when there were only 100 boats in the Marina and almost no buildings.  Back in the day, the Marina had no breakwater and very few boat owners.  The parade was a way to advertise the Marina.  It must have worked because today that number has grown to nearly 6,000.  This annual event is fun for all ages.  Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings is this year’s Grand Marshal.  Fireworks start at 5:55 PM and the parade is at 6:00 PM.  For more information
